Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Premiere Date and New Look Revealed

Everything is not what it seems with the Russo family.
But not to worry, it’ll all be clear soon. After all, E! News can exclusively confirm that Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the continuation of the beloved Wizards of Waverley Place, will be premiering on Oct. 29 on Disney Channel and Oct. 30 on Disney Channel.
While the first two episodes will air on the TV channel, its new spot on the streaming service will give viewers access to the first eight episodes the next day. And starting Nov. 8, two episodes will drop weekly at 8 p.m. ET. In Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Justin (played by David Henrie) lives a normal, happy life with his mortal family, including his wife Giada (Mimi Gianopulos) and kids Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko). But, when Alex (Selena Gomez) comes to her older brother for help with wizard-in-training Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), Justin decides to mentor her and must balance his new responsibilities and busy life.
It’s sure to be a magical journey as the new poster shows what appears to be the back of Billie donning a purple coat while holding a glowing wand, ready for some spells, in her hand.
The show takes place years after Justin was initially named the Russo Family Wizard at the end of season four when he, Alex and Max (Jake T. Austin) competed in the ultimate sibling showdown. He ended up passing on the title, explaining that Alex was going to be the winner but sacrificed herself when she went back for him. Although she became the family wizard, the eldest Russo retained his powers when he was named the new headmaster of the wizarding academy. Meanwhile, Max, the only Russo child without powers, would inherit the family’s sandwich shop.
And it'll definitely be a true Disney Channel reunion with Raven-Symoné and Danielle Fishel directing episodes this season. Meanwhile, David will appear throughout the series and Selena will guest star in the premiere episode, and they will both serve as executive producers.
The new series is a major blast from the past for the OG cast. "This is where it all started," the Only Murders in the Building star reflected in a Disney Channel behind-the-scenes Instagram video earlier this month. "We're home."
David chimed in, "Things have changed. The Russos have grown!"
The 35-year-old also shared insight into what inspired the cast and crew to come back together for the new show.
"Who remembers the original Wizards of Waverly Place?" David asked the live studio audience in the clip. "We wanted to recreate that magic again for a new generation."
